City of Fairbury City Council met April 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Jon Kinate, Jim Tipton, and Bill Schmidgall. Charles Hoselton, Bruce Weber, and Jerry Hoffman were absent.

3. Pledge of Allegiance

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Tipton, second by Norris to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the March 20, council meeting

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. NONE

F. Overtime Report

Motion carried 5-0 YES-Norris Endres Kinate Tipton Schmidgall

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

➢ NONE

6. Reports of Departments

→ Streets Lonnie Rhoads, Superintendent – none

→ Fire – Josh Hoselton, Chief reported -

➢ Inquired about the 1994 Suburban

→ Sewer – Bruce Pride, Asst. Superintendent –

➢ Inquired about utilizing a dump truck from the street department at the sewer plant

→ Water – Mike Mellott, Superintendent – absent

→ Police – Robert McCormick, Chief - none

→ City – Brett Ashburn, Superintendent reported –

➢ Discussed replacement of generator at City Hall

➢ A committee meeting will be Wednesday, April 10th, at 6 p.m.

→ Legal – Steven Mann, City Attorney – none

7. Reports of Aldermen

→ Alderman Norris reported Paula Hoffman will be the On-Site Pool Manager this summer

→ Alderman Endres - none

→ Alderman Hoselton – absent

→ Alderman Kinate - none

→ Alderman Weber - absent

→ Alderman Hoffman - absent

→ Alderman Tipton - none

→ Alderman Schmidgall – none

A. Motion by Kinate, second by Endres to approve an ordinance annexing certain territory to the City of Fairbury – Headley. Motion carried 5-0 YES Norris Endres Kinate Tipton Schmidgall

B. Motion by Tipton, second by Schmidgall to approve a street closure request from Rebekah Fehr for the Community Sale on Saturday, May 4th, 2024. Motion carried 5-0 YES Norris Endres Kinate Tipton Schmidgall

C. Motion by Endres, second by Norris to approve a request from the Boy Scout’s to have a bake/garage sale at Memorial Park next to Old City Hall during all town garage sales April 25th – 27thfrom 8-5 p.m.
